Let's Get Going

I am so ready to get going. My mind is full of ideas and things that I am eager to get started on this year. Some are left-overs from last year that we were unable to accomplish due to life happening but I have a whole bunch more of ideas bouncing around in my head that are eager to make their way out and become more then just an idea. From visions of new flowers in the flower garden, coop improvements, adding chickens to the flock, to the Hubs and I throwing out ideas for all of the things we would each like to plant in the vegetable garden along with home maintenance, stripping paint from the kitchen cabinets, fixing up the dog house, planting trees and bushes, a new gas tank for our little VW Beetle (so she can be driven-what a gas saver she is), to new tires for our other vehicle and maintenance on the lawn tractor......I have so many things running  around in my head that want to get out. I am sure I will come up with more - oh, like what kind of roses I want to plant in the yard and doing an arbor for some climbing roses or maybe grapes, and a pathway from the patio to the coop....ok, ok, I'll stop but I think I have painted a pretty good picture here. Ready to get it in gear over here and get things going!

  1. Isn't winter wonderful? I feel like it's the only time I can catch up on things in the house b/c finally, finally the garden is not so demanding. Although that reminds me, I better water the plants in the greenhouse and spray for moths again... Maybe year round gardening was not such a great idea! Stevie@ruffledfeathersandspilledmilk.com

  2. Amen, Sister! I'm reminding myself to get going earlier this year. Seems like we're in a HOT pattern and I'm thinking my best months are March - June. July - Sept have just been so toasty, I'm considering treating them like Dec - Feb (nothing happening)

    1. I think I remember you posting about the heat you had over summer. I know what you mean about that hot weather and just habing to be inside to stay a little on the cool side. Sometimes that heat can be plain old scorching.

  4. Sounds like you are off to a running start on this New Year :)

I love your enthusiasm, and wonderful plans.

I too dream and plan of garden things, and home improvement projects.
Now, if it would just get warmer.....LOL!
We were in the negative temperatures today. Yikes!!

Wishing you and your sweet family a very blessed New Year, and much happiness.

    1. No negative temps here but it's been cold enough. We saw teens today and low 20's. I have been trying to do things outside and I have cut it short both times due to freezing my rear off. Even with good heavy coats and gloves. Blessings to yuo and your family.

  5. I can relate to wanting to get going!!! We've been talking about some real atttinable goals for us this year. But I must confess that I do like this down time to gather my thoughts and make a "plan" to help me reach those goals, and no weeding the garden as of right now!! Happy New Year!

    1. Yes!!! No weeds! Never thought that before. Seems like a never ending battle during growing season. I like to have a plan too. Most of the time the plan changes and evolves but usually heads in a good direction. Happy New Year to you too.

    1. LOL. Get planning that garden! No better time then the present. Especially when it's time to come in and warm back up after chores. If you can't be outside then the next best thing is planning to be outside when the temps warm and the ground thaws. At least that is my thought right now. It hurts to be outside right now with the temps so low.

  7. Great attitude and initiative. I, too, am pretty excited about new things to come this year. I feel great about a lot of what we did last year and hope to continue to follow that lead. :) Happy Thursday!!
